Roland Faber


(December 11, 1929 - April 13, 2011)

Roland Faber, 81, of Mayetta passed away Wednesday April 13, 2011 at the Topeka VA Hospital. He was born December 11, 1929 in Hawarden, Iowa the son of Peter and Rena (deJager) Faber. At the age of 15 he embraced God's plan of Salvation. Roland entered the United States Army in 1952 and proudly served his country in Germany during the Korean Conflict. In 1972 he married Donna (Toews) Fisher in Topeka. The couple made their home on the family farm near Mayetta. Roland worked for Ford and Chevrolet Dealerships in Topeka until he became self employed full time on their farm. He is survived by: his wife, Donna of Mayetta, KS; his sons, Lynn Fisher and wife Sandra of Olathe, KS and Loren Fisher and wife Lynda of Topeka, KS; his sisters, Rosa deBoer of Iowa, Freda Faber of Mexico, Berniece Faber of Oklahoma, Philene Swearengin of Arizona, Lois Williams of Iowa, Goldie Vlieger of Iowa and Lydia Beemer of Arizona; his brothers, Wendell Faber of Nebraska, Maynard Faber of Oklahoma, Laurence Faber of Alaska, and Ronald Faber of Missouri; and his two grandchildren, Leah & Lyle Fisher. He was preceded in death by his sisters, June and Berneice Faber and a brother Philip Faber. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday April 16 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with burial following in Prairie Home Cemetery in Topeka. The family will greet friends Friday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
