Carving pumpkins

Alicia is on call tonight so she was able to get up early and carve pumpkins with the kids....Bailey and Korrey were here as well as Shawn and Mason. I thought it would be fun to try...been a long time since I've done that.

A lop-sided grin!!!

Shawn, Korrey, Bailey and Mason     BOO!!

We also took a drive to the Miller place where the fellow usually carves close to 100 pumpkins...but this year the day before he was going to start he was injured in a work accident.....so the community got together and carved some to have on display there.. one was big enough for the smaller kids to get into it!!

Fall sky

The sky as we were coming home tonight. The clouds are so beautiful this time of the year.

Mulberry Farm

Shawn and Mason got to ride in the red wagon pulled by Dad. When he wasn't in the wagon Mason wanted to pull it....all boy!!!!

Mason was going to pet the goat...he was timid at first but then liked to be with the animals.
They also got to take a  hayride pulled behind a Ford tractor and then he wanted a tractor from the gift shop....Shawn got a horse.

The wagon that greeted you when you came on the yard.

The GRANARY was the little shop. (this is their spelling)

Alicia has tonight off and Shawn is off school and is here. Alicia wanted to go to a pumpkin place and found this one in Sherwood area...that shows animals to the children and then lets them interact with them.
It was only forty some degrees and very breezy..not as bad as the last few days but still the wind made it feel COLD... I only did part of the tour and then headed for the car.
They had baby chicks, ducks, kitties, and pigs there for the kids to see and learn about. One of the things that I found interesting is that goats are the only animals that do not have round pupils...theirs are rectangular!!! wanted a picture but couldn't get one.

Shower....

Today was the bridal shower for Kayla (and Levi)....it was at our house and it was showering outside too!!

Alicia, Kara, Allie, and Sam all worked on it...we played a couple games then had lunch of turkey sandwiches, chips and dip, veggies and dip and taco dip and a couple salads.  All was very yummy.

Alica made cupcakes and (Joe, Kayla's Dad ) made cut out cookies in shapes of flip flops and flowers.

Chris made the stand for the cupcakes and we decorated in with sea shells...the table had brown sugar and raw sugar to look like sand and then there were shells mixed it with it. The cupcakes were decorated with butter cream frosting and sprayed orange.. the top is a big cupcake with a  white chocolate filling.

Gracie helping Kayla opening the gifts!!

Another gift of birch decoration...the living room is birch accents.

All in all it was a very nice day and thank you to all who helped and who came to celebrate with us.

Dutch Garden People

I  have been wanting to get some of  these for a long time...at one time I had even ordered a pair but never received a call that they were done.  The other day I was looking on Craig's list and saw these listed..they are worn but next summer I will give them a new paint job. Thank you Kayla for picking them up for me and delivering them!!!

school....

This is a school out on the back roads that we go by quite often...I really like that old merry-go-round...it reminds me of when we used to go to the one room and two room schools that June taught.  And of course the willow tree is just beautiful.

This is the front of that same school...

Monday was Chris and Alicia's golden anniversary...I spent the day with Kayla , we shopped around some of the thrift shops looking for chairs for their bedroom..did not find what we were looking for.

This is Mason standing by the "chair" that Daddy used in his shop to sit on while working on whatever needed to be fixed at the time.

While I was gone Alicia and Chris went shopping for straw bales, pumpkins and corn stalks!!
