The end of another year is here....

Chris turned 40 on the 25 th of December and Alicia celebrated her 37th on the 31st.

We had everyone here on New Years eve...always fun for the grandkids.

We got a big snow on December 24th and that was the beginning of a LONG winter.

We had thanksgiving dinner at out house for the Behm family...Chris' mom is recovering from a stroke...

We had all the usual...turkey, mashed potatoes, riced potatoes, snicker salad, cranberries, green bean casserole, home made dinner rolls (made by Nana), corn casserole and pumpkin pie.

Denise, Chris' sister helped with some of it...we all had a part in some way.

I've been going through the old pictures that were taken out of the picture books by Square One and ozoned.
I don't really remember Grandpa with hair so it looks funny to see it blowing in the wind! LIke to see old pictures
and notice the backgrounds..the décor of that time.

Cedar Chest

I've been looking on craigslist for a cedar chest...I saw one that I thought would be what I wanted..but I decided to wait. One day when I was with Elaine we were in Tuesday Morning and I saw how much new chests go for....with her encouraging me I called about the one I saw...looked at it and Elaine got $10 off so it was mine.

I wanted to try chalk paint...I made my own from plaster of paris and paint..it sands down smooth and then I dry brushed with white, distressed it some and then finished it off with was.

Now I have a little more storage in my room.

And to top all of this off ALL the boxes are put in their place and the garage can now be used for what Chris needs it for!!!

heading home

Janna was able to go with us to Nebraska for Lance's funeral....we were all very glad to be able to go..feel such a loss but can have comfort in a faithful life....

We left after breakfast on Wednesday morning...we went to Kenny's and some got together and made breakfast.

It worked out to be in Sioux Falls when Laura was done with school....we got to see where she lives and then she and her room mate came to Chili's for dinner/supper with us.

We took Janna home..visited the kitties and saw all the pumpkins and bought a few home for decoration. Janna also taught Alicia and I the technique of using freezer paper and painting on cloth or burlap.

After leaving Janna's we went on the Sibley Iowa to see Mom for a bit...she was still sitting in the day room...so the boys were entertained by the birds while we visited.

Valentine

Some interesting things about Valentine Nebraska...the sidewalks have red hearts painted on then and the street sighs have hearts behind the name of the street and some street signs are red. Main street had a big red heart painted in the middle.

Janna and I drove Main street to see what stores they had and then picked out a couple to stop at. After that we drove the back streets of town and found lots of dead end streets.....some right into people's yards. There was a interesting mix of junk to be seen.

Dogs and Mason

In the hot days of summer aunt Nia and Alicia and I took the dogs down to Shadow Lake for a swim...it was not intended that Mason go in but...Mason loves water!

The dogs swimming out for the dummy and Mason seeing how far Mom will let him go.

Taelynn

Taelynn is getting so big and learning new things...like sitting by herself and
playing with her toys.

Starting to get in the crawling position...but she can get around if she wants
something. I spent the Labor day weekend at the Levi, Kayla and Taelynn's.

I worked on covering these letters with fabric...they will hang in her bedroom.
