Uncle Sipke

This week we have been receiving emails from cousin Saskia about our Uncle Sip....he turned 94 in April and my brother and his family (Syd) were in Holland at that time. They were with him on his birthday along with Aunt Neeltje and her husband Folkert and one of their daughters and family.

It was so special that he was able to be there....Dad did not understand that Syd was there but Mom did and it was nice for her to know how they all were.

Uncle Sip is now in hospice care....it brings back all the feelings of saying good-bye to Dad .... and this for someone I have never meet...... We think of the family that is by his side....

My sisters have both written about this and it makes me cry....

Remember when Daddy's mother died and all the hurry to get things ready so he could fly to be with his family....one time I remember Dad in tears....so glad that he could go.

This picture was taken in the family home in Langweer Friesland.
The home belonged to Daddy's parents and before that to his grandparents on his father's side,

yes, it makes our loss of dad fresh again...wonder if Undle Sip realizing his brother is gone and now he can go too?? Daddy worried and fretted so much about Holland while he was in Sibley...feel for the famiily so much.

Very special....so wonderful that though Gpa and Uncle Sip were so far apart in distance that they remained so close.
