Dr, report..

I had another appointment with the Dr. today....and another X-ray....he said one view looked great and the other not so great....so it is not fully filled in yet. I don't need to go to therapy for now and just walk with the walker and if I feel I need it use the boot....which is very clumsy to walk in. Now all the hurt from being up and around is back....

house update...

They have been working on the house again....they have it all sprayed with what looks like whitewash....while doing this they left the door between the house and the garage and there was a LOT of over spray......they were up there today cleaning the stuff in the garage!! Chris said they really cleaned it up!!!

I had a therapy appointment yesterday....not to be putting full weight yet...but I am walking with a walker.... feel free..but can tell I have not been up and around for a while.

Oh! and when I was at the house I did not smell smoke!!

we have snow!!!

Last winter we did not have much snow and I think even the winter before....this week they were forecasting a BIG snow...10-15 inches is different areas and then a wind with it.....where we are living  you could not tell how windy it was.....not like we could at home in Iowa!!

Chris spent two days plowing snow for one of his friends that has a business doing snow removal and lawns.

Nature was decorated beautifully.... and the boys had fun playing outside....

Mason was looking at the lake today and said ice..... and wondered why?

Am feeling better...still a cough off and on....   I did try washing the dishes a couple times this week.. and vacuumed from the wheelchair.....that is a challenge!!

Work on the house slowed for the holidays....they have most of the burned supports out and will spray the rest of the house after Christmas.

family times...

This past Saturday was our family Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner...we had turkey and all that goes with it.

All the grand kids were here on Friday night........Alicia has a cookie decorating party with them...Kayla's dad made the cookies...they were yummy!!

I made the squash for the dinner....Chris made mashed potatoes, corn stuff, Kara brought the green bean casserole, milk and Kayla made dinner rolls and pickle roll ups. Alicia supplied the pies.

Harold tried to make it for lunch at 3 but did not make it till 6:30... later a car load went to the house to see it..Kara, Terry and Levi had not seen it for a while and Harold never since the fire..

I had come down with a cold earlier in the week.. and by Saturday night I was coughing and wheezing...so to ER we go....it is pneumonia....keeping the hospital in business!!  Alicia has a cold too...she's trying to sleep it off.

Work on the house is progressing...they have the floor out of the loft and most of the posts and beams...just have some over the kitchen are and steps to hold up the house..they plan to come and seal the rest of the house....then it will be time to sign off on the smell....

Winter...2012

We had our first snow of the year...it was a slow snowfall but lasted all day
Sunday. Looking out over Otter Lake is very pretty....I can not go out so take a
few pictures from the windows.
Chris spent almost 12 hours plowing drives for other people....his friend had a business
doing snow removal and yard work in the summer.

Today was the day for a check on the ankle...Mason had never gone with before
and it was very interesting for him to see the cast cut off.
They then took an  X-ray and it shows that it is healed!!!!!  But I still can not put weight
on it for another two weeks..... I can take the boot off and do some flexing of the ankle.
In two weeks I go to therapy and in three weeks back to the Dr. and the half weight.
Dr. is being extra cautious because of last time.

Today at the house they were doing some work....progress!!! exciting!!!

Chris dug a couple holes for the posts for the kitchen addition...it will built like a deck instead of digging down and putting a basement in.

The fellows were there on Saturday and hung plastic so they could start with the soda blasting today....I think it looks good...what they have done...can't tell any different in the smell til they get all the logs done.

It so happened that we needed to go to Appleton for some things at Sam's Club....so Chris and I had supper with Levi and Kayla at Texas Roadhouse...on his birthday.

On Monday I was back to the Dr...they removed the cast and checked the sore....it looked the same and was not wet so the cast was put back on and no weight bearing for another two weeks...it is getting old but just hope it is healing like it should so maybe by the end if the year I will be back on two legs!!!!

Had a pretty pink cast put on....could have gone with a boot..
but I feel like it is easier with the cast to keep off of it.


I have been sick since last Friday...spent a while in ER on Saturday evening was given two bags of saline...
still was not feeling so good even today...but I think I finally figured out what the problem was.I had run out of some meds
and was having problems getting it...going off of it all at once is not good...
 

Elaine came to visit

Elaine came today for a visit and we went to the China  House for lunch...really enjoyed the shrimp and the crab regoons

We first went to lunch at the China House...really enjoyed the shrimp and crab ragoons...

Then we Fleet Farm just to look around...I know but Waupaca does not have an abundance of stores to just browse in,

We drove some of the country roads... and went by the place that I always want to take pictures of....she drove right in the yard sooo got some other pictures too.

We also looked around Shopko....got a nice soft long sleeved top...to keep cozy in while I sit on the couch for a few more weeks.....

planning....

We have been to the builder to tell them about changes in the floor plans we would like to make....one is that Alicia and Chris and boys would get the basement where I lived and their bedroom would be made for me....it is a plan that makes perfect sense since the stairs are becoming hard to do...who thought 60 would be that difficult in getting around...but seems that it is not getting better....and a broken ankle doesn't help.....now one week since surgery...not much pain except the normal pain in both feet.

This the planned changes for the main floor bedroom..which will be mine..the bath
will be assessable from both the bedroom and the rest of the mainfloor and is made
to be assessable for a wheelchair..if needed.

These are the planned changes for the basement..Chris and Alicia will have
what was my bedroom and the guestroom and the boys' will have what was the
kitchen-dining area and the bath was made larger to be able to have Alicia's tub!

Doing just dandy!

All of the "tools" and I are doing just dandy!  What a difference this time is!  I guess since we know how to do things from the last time makes this time much easier...whew!!!



I am following Dr's orders to a "T".  Elevate, no weight bearing, pain medications, leaving the "dressing" alone (Duh!  Its casted!), and resting.  A few certain neccessities follow me from room to room...  mints, tissues, hand sanitizer, phone, kindle, etc...

What's happenin'

This week they started to do some demo on the house...by yesterday they had all the ceiling of the greatroom part of the the house torn out and of  course the insulation comes down too. The carpet is pull up out of Robbies room and the master bedroom... and some of the doors have been taken off and a little of the sheetrock...Chris and Kevin took out some of the kitchen cupboards.

This Saturday morning I met Marlene for "coffee" that turned into breakfast!! We had a nice visit...miss seeing her every week.....

Stopped and got a board to put the grands pictures on....miss my frames...but someday I will have them back... I'll have to figure out a way to put them on here...but not today...

Walk to the lake....

That would sound like something simple...but I am not to walk outside without someone being close by....so today being a nice day....when we got back from putting the camper to bed for the winter...I told Chris I was walking down there....Shooter was with me!!!!

It is pretty down there...so took some more pictures....coming into Waupaca from the house the trees are still so pretty...and now it is raining out.

Next week on Tuesday I will be having surgery on my ankle again...I went to a specialist for ankles..they did a CAT scan to make sure of what they have to deal with....they will be removing the screws from the last surgery and then will put in a plate in and also do a bone graft....really not looking forward to it...since there will be two surgical spots. Have to be not weight bearing for 4-6 weeks.

GOOD NEWS

Chris and Alicia had a meeting with the builder and the insurance people yesterday and got the questions answered about the rebuilding of the house...They will be starting next week to tear down and will be rebuilding....and they will be able to make some of the changes that need to be made.

Soooooo by March it should be done...which will work out good...cuz we need to be out of this house by April......

The house will soon be looking like this again!!!!
