We baked a cake at the campground..Kastle Kampground...and Aunt Michelle had a candle...so we sang happy birthday and day early and had cake...Mommy used this cake for you to dig in and get nice and covered in chocolate frosting!!!

Original Memorial Day...

May 30th was the original Memorial Day..until they changed to always be on a Monday...I always thought it was great that is was also Grandma Faber's birthday...always will remember her!!

While at my sister's in Minnesota Mason got to be outside and watch them plant muskmelons. He loved the dirt!! The pickup he is in was used to bring the plants to the field...it used to be Great grandpa deBoer's.

Chris, Alicia, Mason and I made the trip to Minnesota and Iowa again...this time for Dad's 90th birthday. Joining us in the celebration was Glenn and Jenae, Sydney and Austin and Mango (no picture of him..he is Dad and Mom's last cat on the farm), also Kerry and Janna and Laura, Evan and Issac. We had cake and ice cream with tea and coffee. After that we all sat around the table and sang a few hymns... I am so glad we got together and am sorry that Brant's and Peter's family could not be there.

Gerrit deBoer was born to Brant and Jetske (vander Horst) deBoer on May 19,1920 in Langweer Friesland Netherlands.


This is a picture of his birth announcement. I found this is some of the papers that we went through while moving off the farm.

This picture was taken in the spring of 2009..Dad was wanting to get the potatoes planted..he could hardly walk in the plowed dirt...so part of the planted was done sitting on the ground..still had the love of the land in him.


Dad taking his last walk around the farm..so glad I took him out there, because it soon snowed and then the move to Sibley. We love you Dad and it's hard to see you like you are.. We plan to be there for your birthday...90!!!

After moving my vanity it needed a nice stool...I had an old sewing chair that needed to be made "new". I looked at it and the back would come off...it was shaky..so I did that and then recovered it. I can also use it as an ottoman for my wing back chair.

I was watching Mason for a while yesterday...he was only happy when he could be outside...so we were out taking pictures of all the flowers with him by/in them...those pictures to come later..this was when I decided maybe it was time to come in!!!!! He didn't think so though.............
